Bowditch Sponsors Red Cross Central Massachusetts Heroes Breakfast
The American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts will hold its annual Central Massachusetts Heroes Breakfast on April 24 at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester. Sponsored by Bowditch, the event honor heroes who have exemplified the mission of the Red Cross over the past year.
This year’s award recipients are:
- Youth Award: Worcester North High School JROTC students Jordan Parker, Raesean Goodney, Marquis Bell and Abdel Sebbai ran into a burning building to warn residents and helped them get out.
- Life-Saving Award: Aaron Caruso helped rescue a person trapped in their burning vehicle.
- Life-Saving Award: Benjamin Bubbis, a 12-year-old boy, took the wheel of the car while his grandfather was having a stroke.
- Life-Saving Award: Kristin McAffrey was awakened by the sound of a smoke alarm and saved her brother.
- Community Impact Award: Ruth (Dee Dee) Betz, LPN provides extraordinary care to her community through volunteerism.
- Posthumous Recognition: Christopher Ray was a Worcester firefighter who lost his life while looking for someone in a burning building.
