Worcester Telegram Quotes Mark Borenstein in “Worcester panel backs tax deal for Mission Chapel apartments”

An effort to turn Worcester’s vacant Mission Chapel into market-rate apartments is moving forward, with the City Council Economic Development Committee approving a tax-relief deal with the chapel’s new owner.

As the historic chapel has not been used since the early 1990s, many welcome its revitalization. Said Mark Borenstein in the article:

Mark Borenstein, a local lawyer representing the developer, said the project will add density to that part of the downtown and rehabilitate a historic property that has been vacant for more than 25 years.

He said the developer has already met with the Worcester Jobs Fund Committee and intends to hire Worcester residents to work on the project in accordance with the city’s policy governing tax-relief deals for private development.
