Bob Cox Quoted in Worcester Telegram’s “Brownfields in Worcester, other Gateway Cities stuck in red tape from state, advocates say”
The financial incentives in the Brownfields Redevelopment Act can be extremely useful from redevelopment projects, but aren’t being used as often as they once were. Some blame delays in the program due to regulatory changes from the state. The Worcester Telegram spoke with Bob Cox about brownfields and the current application process.
“(Applications) used to take a few months, now they take longer and DOR is much more deliberate, questioning eligible costs involved,” Cox said. “It’s supposed to be simple, and now it’s getting very, very complex.”
