Samantha McDonald moderated a panel on adaptive reuse and housing innovation at the Worcester Business Journal’s Economic Forecast & Central Mass Real Estate Forum on February 11, 2025. The annual Forum, which was hosted in partnership with the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, will took a look at the economic climate of the past year, current national and regional data, and key trends looking forward.
Samantha’s panel discussed the reuse of older buildings for residential conversions and provided project success stories and lessons learned. Panelists also highlighted retail adaptation trends including repurposing older mall, strip mall and other retail spaces to meet changing consumer and business needs. The session also focused on housing solutions including an overview of state and municipal incentive programs aimed at increasing housing stock and top challenges and barriers to increased housing development and how to overcome them.
