Financial Advisor Magazine quoted John Shoro in an article discussing the recent proposal to eliminate the estate and generation-skipping transfer tax (GST), presented by the Trump administration on September 27th. Legislative changes of this nature often create additional work, and eliminating the estate and GST taxes would be no different. As Shoro predicts, if these federal transfer taxes do indeed disappear, financial advisors will soon be investing more energy towards income-tax planning. Shoro also anticipates that new income-tax implications will present themselves upon the dismissal of the estate tax.
