The landmark Weintraub’s Jewish Delicatessen on Water Street in Worcester will be closing its doors after 99 years in business, and Mark Borenstein has helped to organize a farewell event from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 11 for local leaders and Worcester citizens alike.

Says Mark in the article:

Mark Borenstein, a local lawyer who helped organize the event along with City Councilor At-Large Moe Bergman, said he grew up in Worcester’s Jewish community and wanted to get residents together to reminisce about the area’s past.

“This is really an opportunity for members of the community — the Jewish community and the broader community — to come in and enjoy the restaurant,” he said. “Throughout my life, I’ve heard stories about how back in its heyday, Water Street was a place where on a Saturday night you couldn’t even walk on the sidewalk, there were just so many people out as the Sabbath ended.”
