Bowditch to Sponsor Boston Bar Association Annual Meeting September 19
Bowditch will sponsor the Boston Bar Association’s (BBA) Annual Meeting breakfast, taking place at 7:30 a.m. September 19 at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.
The meeting’s keynote speaker will be Richard Rothstein, a Distinguished Fellow of the Economic Policy Institute and fellow of the Thurgood Marshall Institute of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and of the Haas Institute at the University of California (Berkeley). He will discuss his book The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America, which touches on historic housing policies that created racial and cultural divides that continue to be felt today.
In addition, the BBA will present the 2019 John G. Brooks Legal Services Award to the following area organizations working to fight housing displacement:
- Greater Boston Legal Services
- WilmerHale Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School
- Harvard Legal Aid Bureau
- City Life/Vida Urbana
