Joshua Lee Smith Quoted in “Planning Board OKs plans for 218-unit Shrewsbury Street project” in the Worcester Telegram
Last week, the Planning Board unanimously approved a proposed site plan for a 218-unit residential project on Shrewsbury Street and a parking variance for additional parking at Albany Street. The project, which will include approximately 163 one- and two-bedroom apartments, will be seven stories high and located behind the current shopping plaza that houses Mexicali Cantina Grill and InHouse Coffee.
Joshua Lee Smith represents Lundgren Equity Partners, the organization proposing the 205,000 square-foot building. He spoke with the Worcester Telegram about the project:
Joshua noted that the city has been welcoming several high-density mixed-use multifamily projects in areas such as downtown and the Canal District, but that Shrewsbury Street has not yet seen as many similar proposals.
He said that a project right next to a shopping plaza in the popular restaurant and retail hub of Shrewsbury Street is bound to bring foot traffic and commented, “This is exactly the type of project we think that will get feet on the street, will feed those businesses along Shrewsbury Street.”
