Banker & Tradesman Publishes “Contractors Violate Building Code While Adhering to Client Requests”
Banker & Tradesman published an article by Lynette Paczkowski discussing implications that a recent Massachusetts Appeals Court ruling holds for contractors. The Appeals Court found a contractor responsible for roof leaking and building code violations resulting from roofing work, despite the fact that the homeowners not only incorrectly described past work on their roof, but also forbade the contractors from testing the roof to prevent a building code violation. In light of this ruling, contractors in Massachusetts should make sure that their contracts contain provisions allowing projects to be left unfinished in the event that property owners make requests conducive to building code violations.
