The Boston Globe Quotes Lou Ciavarra in “Worcester fuel dealer faces class-action suit over home heating oil mixture”
Last month, a Massachusetts Superior Court judge ruled that a lawsuit filed by former customers of Peterson Oil can go forward as a class action – a decision that may result in thousands of new claims against Peterson Oil. The lawsuit, which was filed in 2019, alleges that Peterson Oil and an affiliate, Cleghorn Oil, misrepresented the contents of its fuel and sold its former customers oil mixed with a high percentage of biodiesel.
Lou Ciavarra, one of the lawyers for Peterson, spoke with The Boston Globe about the case:
Lou denied the suit’s claims, saying the company never “hid the fact there’s biodiesel in the fuel.” He stated, “The vast, vast majority of Peterson Oil’s customers are completely happy customers.” Lou said the company will appeal the judge’s ruling allowing the suit to move forward as a class action.
