Title IX Regulations Compliance Check-in: Pregnancy and Related Conditions (Higher Education Roundtable)
The April release of the federal Title IX regulations came at the same time as the federal government released regulations under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) and on the heels of the implementation of the Providing Urgent Material Protections (PUMP) Act.
On July 16, 2024, we held the third of our monthly Compliance Check-ins, where we reviewed the colleges’ responsibilities with respect to pregnancy accommodations for students and employees. This check-in considered these Title IX obligations and how they are similar to or different from colleges’ obligations under the PWFA, the PUMP Act, and Massachusetts state law.
