Brigid Harrington Named Go To Higher Education Lawyer
Worcester, Framingham, and Boston, MA – November 1, 2024 – Brigid A. Harrington, a partner at Bowditch & Dewey LLP, has been named a Go To Higher Education Lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
Harrington has extensive experiences in civil rights issues, helping higher education clients comply with regulations involving race, sex, and disability discrimination as well as laws related to harassment and retaliation. At Bowditch, she has established herself as a leader in policy development, drafting comprehensive anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies for clients. She also trains faculty, staff, and students on their obligations as members of a college community.
In addition, Harrington has conducted numerous investigations into civil rights matters, employee issues and student misconduct at colleges and other institutions. She has served as the Director of Civil Rights at the University of Massachusetts and at Harvard University as an investigator for the Office of Dispute Resolution. Prior to her work in higher education, Harrington was an Assistant District Attorney in New York City.
An active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, Harrington also has served on the organizing committee of the Boston Bar Association’s annual higher education conference. She has received certifications from ATIXA in Title IX Administration and Title IX Athletics Compliance, and has received training in Title IX compliance from the Student Conduct Institute at SUNY.
She is also the editor of Bowditch’s Campus Counsel blog, leader of the firm’s Higher Education Roundtables, and volunteers at Citizens for Juvenile Justice and Rian Immigration Center.
A graduate of Boston College Law School, Harrington received her bachelor’s degree in international affairs from the University of Pennsylvania.
