We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. This is a chance to work with the Director of Finance on all aspects of the Accounting Department’s responsibilities and initiatives. It’s a “generalist” opportunity and for the right candidate, this is an opportunity to learn the business end of a professional services firm. This position resides in our Worcester office and is hybrid, with the ability to work 1-2 days remotely.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate and complete records, including but not limited to: ledgers, journals, invoices, receipts, and information related to client billing and revenue
- Assisting others in the accounting department in daily, monthly accounting duties, and annual activities, including generating financial reports, developing budgets, account reconciliations, assisting with year-end audits and resolving discrepancies
- Assist as needed with client billing, conflict checks, cash management and accounts payable responsibilities
- Using documents to verify, record, and process transactions such as payroll transfers
- Using strong research abilities, accurately and efficiently analyze data and other information, creating accurate reports for management review; communicate key takeaways from such analysis
- Provide prompt, courteous responses to inquiries from employees, attorneys, clients, vendors, and lenders
- Become facile with the accounting system in order to troubleshoot issues, leverage its capabilities and train new users
- Coordinate department initiatives to help increase departmental efficiencies and improve customer service
- Participate in ongoing education opportunities to learn about industry trends and developments and current financial legislation
- Be able to step into the Director of Finance position and keep things running when there are absences and other special projects arise
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Minimum 7 years related accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and current financial legislation
- Exceptional time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Exercise sound judgment and decision-making capabilities
- Must be trustworthy, thorough, and courteous with excellent time management skills
- Possess strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills
- Ability to work on individual projects and as a member of a team
- Advanced Excel Skills
