Massachusetts Senate Overwhelmingly Passes the Transgender Public Accommodations Bill
In the wake of the Massachusetts legislature’s joint Judiciary Committee’s approval of both the House and Senate Transgender Public Accommodations Bills, the state Senate passed its bill by a veto-proof majority of 33-4. The House is expected to take up the bill very soon where a similarly large majority in favor is expected. Governor Charlie Baker has yet given little indication as to whether he would sign the legislation should it pass both chambers. Nevertheless, the common wisdom is that he will sign it.
The statuses of the Massachusetts Transgender Public Accommodations Bills remain issues to watch, especially in light of recent legislative issues throughout the United States.
