Press Release: Kristin Shirahama, Bowditch Partner, Elected to Women’s Bar Association Emeritus Board
Boston, Framingham, and Worcester, MA – February 16, 2022 – Kristin Shirahama, who leads Bowditch & Dewey LLP’s Estate, Financial & Tax Planning practice, was elected to the Women’s Bar Association’s Emeritus Board.
Shirahama, former president and trustee of the Women’s Bar Association, is a dynamic leader in the state’s legal community. As a member of the Emeritus Board, she will play a critical advisory role for the bar association, offering strategic guidance on how the organization can best achieve its goals as well as advising on key conferences and initiatives.
“Kristin’s tremendous commitment to advancing women in the legal profession, combined with her deep knowledge of the WBA’s work, make her a natural choice to help advance the organization’s mission,” said Heather Gamache, the board president.
Shirahama, a leader in her field, has worked tirelessly on behalf of female colleagues, her clients, and the public. Named to Massachusetts Lawyers’ Weekly 2021 list of top estate planning attorneys and its 2017 list of “Top Women of Law,” she has mentored many female attorneys throughout her career. As immediate past chair of Bowditch’s women’s initiative, she focused on business development strategies for women at the firm.
In the community, she has trained attorneys for the Women’s Bar Foundation Elder Law Project, which provides estate planning services to low-income elders. Often, she is a featured speaker on panels about how people can take control of their financial futures. Recently, she spoke at a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly program, “Trusts and Estates: What to Expect from the Biden Administration.”
