Matthew Morris to Participate in Worcester Chamber’s Business & Government Forum on Opportunity Zones
Matthew Morris will participate in a panel to discuss the Opportunity Zone Program, which provides incentives for investment in low-income communities throughout the country, at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Business & Government Forum. The program will be held on January 9, 2019, at 7 a.m. at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.
An Opportunity Zone is a designated geographic area, in which individuals can gain favorable tax treatment on their capital gains, by investing those funds (through a privately-created Opportunity Fund) into economic activities in the area. The Opportunity Zone Program was created through the U.S. Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017.
