Ashley Barnes is an associate in the firm’s Litigation practice area and works on a wide range of matters, including business, construction, and employment-related disputes. She is adept at guiding a broad array of clients—including healthcare organizations, banking institutions, and software companies—through all phases of litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, and private settlement negotiations.
Ashley also has significant experience in construction litigation and counseling, representing owners, developers, construction managers and contractors throughout all phases of construction – from contract negotiation through and beyond completion. She has experience drafting and negotiating a wide array of construction agreements, as well as advising and representing clients in connection with disputes and claims through litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Ashley has also represented design professionals, including architects and engineers, in connection with construction defect disputes and in defense of professional liability claims.
Before Bowditch
Before joining Bowditch, Ashley was an associate at Am Law 100 firms in Boston and New York City and focused on construction law. She also worked as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the New York City Law Department’s Commercial & Real Estate Litigation division where she defended the City of New York and its agencies in complex construction litigation involving contractual disputes.
Besides work
Ashley enjoys cooking and baking, especially around the holidays and for other special occasions. She also enjoys learning about other cultures while traveling internationally, particularly by taking cooking classes during trips abroad.
