Heather Balmat is a trademark attorney with nearly 20 years of experience assisting clients in the acquisition, protection and enforcement of their trademark rights in the U.S. and internationally. She works with businesses ranging from solo entrepreneurs to established companies in selecting trademarks, evaluating their availability and protectability, and registering them with the United States Patent & Trademark Office. She also advises clients on international trademark protection strategy and facilitates registering trademarks overseas. She also has substantial experience in other areas of intellectual property, including copyright registrations, trademark and copyright licensing, and due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Her clients have come from a variety of industries, including software, medical devices, financial services, telecommunications, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, clothing and accessories, wearable technology, education services, graphic arts, prepared foods, restaurant services, wineries and breweries.
Besides work
Heather enjoys knitting and cross-stitch and recently began an ambitious cross-stitch project she hopes to finish before her young daughter starts high school. She also enjoys international travel when she has the opportunity, and is fluent in French.
